Introduction
In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of assigning licenses to your team members and help you understand how to maintain control over deployment.
Confidentiality of Teamid and Secret
Upon purchasing Kadeck Teams Enterprise, you will receive a teamid and a secret. These are highly confidential credentials that are designed to be managed exclusively by the Kadeck administrator or the individual responsible for the setup of Kadeck Teams Enterprise at your company. These credentials play a crucial role during the setup process of Kadeck, enabling automatic retrieval of your purchased licenses from our servers. They need to be provided as environment variables to a Kadeck Teams Enterprise instance or cluster.
Offline License Retrieval
For instances where your Kadeck environment is air-gapped, we offer an offline process for license retrieval. This ensures that even in an offline environment, the setup process can be completed without any hindrance.
Assigning Licenses to Users
Once your licenses are retrieved, you can proceed with adding users. This can be done manually from your Kadeck Teams Enterprise administration view or through LDAP.
Manual process
As an administrator, access your Kadeck Teams Enterprise installation.
- Navigate to the "Administration" section and then to the "User" section.
- Add a new user by providing their email address or username.
- Repeat step 2 for each of the users you wish to onboard.
Adding users through directory services
As an alternative to adding users manually, directory services such as Active Directory (and others) can also be used to add users to your Kadeck Teams Enterprise setup.
License Limitations
There are two types of user licenses: standard user licenses and floating user licenses.
Standard user licenses
If you have purchased standard user licenses, the number of user licenses determines the number of users that can be added to Kadeck.
Floating licenses
If you have purchased floating user licenses, the number of user licenses determines the number of users that can log in to Kadeck at the same time. There is no license limit to the number of users that can be added and managed in Kadeck Teams Enterprise.
Package license
Regardless of which user licenses they have, there is a package license that enables the setup of a Kadeck installation. A Kadeck installation can consist of one instance or multiple instances that share a database and thus act in a cluster network (e.g. for load balancing and high availability).
One package license entitles to setup one Kadeck installation.
License Upgrades and Additions
Should you find that you need to increase the number of licenses, you can always upgrade your package or purchase additional licenses as per your requirement.
